Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern appreciate their manager’s patience after the Daily Star revealed that Louis van Gaal will take his time when deciding to sign Radamel Falcao from Monaco on a permanent basis.
It would cost the Red Devils £43.5 milion to bring him in permanently and this is a huge risk for somebody whose fitness record is unconvincing.
The man on loan from Monaco has voiced his desire to stay at Old Trafford despite his lack of first team football.
But van Gaal has said that before he commits anything more to the 28-year-old financially, he must prove his fitness.
He said: “He hasn’t played so much. You cannot see too much of a player if he doesn’t train so much.
“He has been injured a lot of time. First you have to be fit.
“Now he shows fitness in the training sessions so maybe I shall select him [for Saturday’s game at Aston Villa], maybe for the bench or the line up. Let’s wait and see.”
Manchester United fans. Right now, where do you stand on the Falcao debate? Has he proved an expensive mistake? Should you have kept Danny Welbeck for example? Let us know your thoughts below.
