Everton could make signing a new centre-forward a priority in January after entering the season short of options in attack.
David Moyes needs additional firepower to strengthen his squad, and a promising Iceland international has reportedly emerged as a potential solution.
Real Sociedad striker Orri Oskarsson is attracting interest from several Premier League clubs, with Everton understood to be paying particularly close attention to his progress.
The 22-year-old has impressed in Spain, and the Toffees could explore a move as they look to address a key weakness in their squad.
Everton Monitoring Orri Oskarsson
According to TEAMtalk, Everton are among the clubs monitoring Oskarsson ahead of the January transfer window. Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Sunderland and Brentford are also reportedly tracking the Icelandic forward, meaning Moyes could face competition if Everton decide to pursue a deal.
Everton’s need for a striker has become increasingly apparent following their summer business. Beto departed for Fiorentina without a replacement arriving, leaving Thierno Barry as the club’s only recognised centre-forward. Attempts to sign Folarin Balogun from Monaco and Joshua Zirkzee from Manchester United also failed to produce a deal.
That situation has reportedly encouraged Everton to examine their options ahead of January, with Oskarsson among the forwards attracting attention.
The Iceland international joined Real Sociedad from FC Copenhagen in 2024 and made progress during his previous campaign, scoring nine goals in LaLiga. His combination of physical presence, technical ability and finishing has helped establish him as an appealing prospect for clubs looking to strengthen their attacking ranks.
Oskarsson has also continued to impress at international level, with his performances for Iceland adding to his growing reputation. At 22, he could offer Everton both an immediate option up front and a potential long-term investment.
However, Everton would need to establish whether Real Sociedad are prepared to negotiate during the January window. The Spanish club invested significantly to secure his services, and there is no confirmation that they would be willing to let him leave midway through the season.
What This Means for Everton
Oskarsson could be an important addition for Everton as Moyes looks to address the lack of depth at centre-forward. Relying heavily on Barry leaves the manager with limited specialist alternatives, particularly across a demanding second half of the campaign.
The Icelandic striker’s profile could suit Everton’s need for another option capable of leading the line. His technical qualities may also give Moyes greater flexibility in how the team approaches matches, while his age offers scope for further development.
Competition from Tottenham, Newcastle, Sunderland and Brentford could complicate Everton’s pursuit, however. The Toffees would need to move decisively if their interest develops into a formal approach, while the final cost and Sociedad’s willingness to sell would be key factors.
For now, Everton’s reported interest suggests the club are assessing potential solutions ahead of January rather than confirming a deal is imminent. With Moyes needing greater depth in attack, Oskarsson is a name to watch as the winter transfer window approaches.
