Everton’s attacking options have been reduced after a number of departures, leaving David Moyes with just one recognised senior striker in his squad.
Jamie Vardy had emerged as a potential solution, but the veteran forward is now reportedly set to join Burnley. That leaves Everton looking elsewhere, with another familiar name now emerging as a possible option.
The Toffees are considering a move for a striker with plenty of experience at the highest level.
Icardi ‘Open’ to Joining Everton
Everton are considering a move for Mauro Icardi, who is available as a free agent following his departure from Galatasaray, according to teamTALK.
The 33-year-old has been offered to Everton and is reportedly open to moving to Goodison Park, although no advanced negotiations or formal offer have taken place.
Icardi would provide Moyes with considerable experience and a proven goalscoring record. The Argentine scored 77 goals in 134 appearances during his four seasons in Turkey, while his overall senior record stands at 250 goals in 478 matches.
Former Barcelona star Ivan Rakitic has previously described Icardi as “lethal”, highlighting the finishing ability Everton could be adding if they decide to pursue the free agent.
Moyes has already indicated that he is willing to explore the free-agent market for attacking reinforcements, making Icardi a name worth watching as Everton assess their options before January.
