With Thierno Barry now their only recognised senior centre-forward, Everton may have to look outside the transfer market for a solution.
Everton Considering Vardy Move
Everton are considering a surprise move for veteran striker Jamie Vardy, according to The Sun.
The 39-year-old is currently without a club after leaving Cremonese at the conclusion of last season, having previously made it clear that he wanted to return to the UK following his year in Italy.
Vardy has attracted interest from several clubs since becoming a free agent, with Wrexham and Brazilian giants São Paulo among those linked with the former England international.
Wrexham reportedly tried to convince the Leicester legend to continue his career with them, but their approach was turned down despite the appeal of their high-profile Hollywood ownership.
Vardy’s record makes him an obvious consideration for Everton despite his age. He became the first player to move directly from non-league football for a fee of more than £1m when Leicester signed him from Fleetwood Town in 2012.
He subsequently became a club legend at the King Power Stadium, scoring 200 goals in 500 appearances and playing a starring role in Leicester’s remarkable Premier League title triumph in 2015/16.
Now, with Everton suddenly lacking depth at centre-forward, Vardy could offer Moyes an experienced short-term option while the club assesses its attacking situation.
