The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern were delighted with their sides performance against Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side ended a run of 4 games without a victory in the Premier League last weekend after dismantling a hapless Stoke side by 5 goals to 1. Tottenham’s result arrived on a weekend when 4 out of the 5 teams above them in the Premier League table dropped points and allowed the Lilywhites to close the gap on the leading pack.
Now that the January transfer window is only 3 weeks away from re-opening, Pochettino will be working with Daniel Levy to identify potential targets to bring to Wembley in the mid-season window.
However, according to Diariogol, Tottenham are already looking ahead to the summer transfer window of 2018, when they will make a sensational move to bring Gareth Bale back to the club where his glittering career took flight.
Reports linking Bale to North London have understandably given a handful of the Tottenham fans on Twitter plenty to discuss…
Naturally, the supporters are excited by the reports in Diariogol, but they are reluctant to go overboard with their expectations considering Bale would have to take a massive pay-cut to re-join Spurs with their current wage structure.
Also, Bale’s unfortunate record with injuries in the last two years is leading some fans to say the club would be better off without the Welsh wing wizard.
Here’s what the Lilywhites faithful have had to say about the Gareth Bale rumours…
I’d like it to happen but don’t see it purely down to

Club can’t afford £150k a week for Toby’s contract. Now you think they are going to pay £80mil for him then match his £300k wages get real!

Better value than Zaha for £50 for me – maybe there are better buys though

Gareth Bale as we knew him, the match winning, reliable superstar who carried #THFC along on his back is sadly not that player anymore.
Thinking Levy would sanction a huge deal for him is madness.
Thinking Poch wants a player who starts less than 50% of matches is madness.#COYS pic.twitter.com/jvmIjmFWFc— • dave ellis • (@fullback03) December 11, 2017

If that means any of Kane/Alli/Eriksen/Lloris going the other way….no thanks!

Said it before, say it again, he won’t come to us while we pay peanuts and when we will lose big players because of our wage structure.
