Rangers fans will be frustrated at how this season has turned out for the Gers. Sure, based on their pre-season expectations, they’ve done well, but earlier in the year, things were lining up for it to be a classic campaign for the Glaswegian giants.
Celtic started the season poorly, and very quickly, the Gers found themselves in an SPFL title race, and glory this term almost looked inevitable.
However, they’ve since been knocked out of both domestic and continental competition, whilst they’ve also fallen behind in the title race. It’s not been a pleasant time for the club.
That said, there’s still a lot of good takeaways that fans must consider from this season. It will hurt now, but Steven Gerrard has made waves with his team already, and that growth is worth commenting on.

Positivity Is Back
Ibrox has been a pretty depressing place at points over the last few years. The Gers haven’t been competitive at the top of the table, and they looked to be a shadow of their former selves.
However, that feeling has been departing over the last few months. It’s finally fun to be a fan again, with the fans at Ibrox in high spirits and looking forward to games each and every week.
The reason for that is simple: Rangers finally have an identity again. Steven Gerrard has brought back the desire and passion, and he seems to have a plan for the team.
Sure, this season hasn’t gone quite to plan in recent weeks, but fans would have probably taken their current spot in the table at the start of the season, and the best is certainly yet to come.
There’s a lot of reasons to be positive.
Old Firm Success
There’s no denying it. The highlight of the season for Rangers fans will have been finally overcoming Celtic in the Old Firm derby. The Celts had long dominated the tie, and few gave the Gers hope of overcoming their rivals.
However, a resolute performance from the team gave rise to a side of Rangers that had been decidedly absent in the years prior. The team never gave up, and they got exactly what they deserved.
Beating Celtic puts an end to what has been a bit of a bogey fixture for Rangers over the last few years.
It’s the clearest sign yet of their growth.
