‘I didn’t expect it to end this way’ – Liverpool fans are frustrated after latest injury setback

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have already begun building up to their side’s clash with Real Madrid in the final of the Champions League.

The Reds have been sensational in Europe this term, and against all expectation, they’ve been able to beat some of Europe’s best to reach the final stage of the tournament.

They’re a club with a rich history in the competition, and so Liverpool fans will be hoping to make even more history in a few weeks time.

However, ahead of the clash, it appears as though Liverpool have suffered somewhat of an injury setback.

Emre Can has been missing for the last few months, but he’s yet to be officially ruled out for the rest of the campaign. As such, naturally, fans will have been hoping that he could make the game.

However, that now looks unlikely, at least according to Chris Bascombe on Twitter. He’s revealed that Can is losing his fight to be fit for the final game, with the German still not back at Liverpool’s Melwood training ground.

Given Liverpool’s other midfield problems, like the injury to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, having Can as an option even on the bench would have been a boost. Nonetheless, Liverpool are, at the very least, going to have to prepare like that isn’t the case.

It’s fair to say that the Liverpool fans on Reddit aren’t too happy about this, and especially given that his contract expires this summer, they are fearing that this could be the last they see of him. They’ve been discussing this in some depth on the Liverpool fan page on the platform.
