Everton saw a couple of players leave the club in the January transfer window, however, they were adamant up to the deadline that one man would not be leaving Goodison Park.
Idrissa Gana Gueye had been attracting interest from Paris Saint-Germain all winter and according to Sky Sports, they turned down an offer of £26.2million in the final hours.
It is understood the midfielder had wanted to join the French outfit and had handed in a transfer request to The Toffees in order to try and force a deal through.
The Senegal international is believed to be ‘very upset’ about the events that have happened over the window.
However, Marco Silva will have wanted to keep his best players at Goodison Park this season as he looks to turn things around.
The club have been under-performing this season and have had a poor run of form in the Premier League recently.
The Verdict:

There is no doubt that Gueye is vitally important to Everton and it is easy to understand why they turned down the improved offer.
The midfielder has excelled for The Toffees in the last two-and-a-half years he has been at the club and has become one of Europe’s most attractive holding midfielders.
However, having refused to allow him to leave could have a negative impact on the player and the club and that will be something Silva cannot afford to have in his team.
