Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping life after Coutinho can remain as good as it’s been in recent months.

Liverpool has had one in and one out already in the first week of the winter transfer window, and it seems like there’s not going to be much let up in the final few weeks, as Klopp looks to strengthen his team for a big half of the season. Indeed, qualifying for the Champions League is a must for the German coach this season.

Liverpool has a huge match against Man City as they enrol on their own bid to keep in the top four and remain in touching distance fo the breakaway three. Many of our bar stalwarts believe that City will become unstuck against the Reds, and a sprinkle of youth will add to the occasion.

While Klopp looks to replace the departed Coutinho and bed in his new centre-back signing, he may look to the Liverpool u23’s for a little something different to keep his first-team players on their toes a little more through January.

However, like Bristol City showed mid-week, playing without fear against City could be the key and our landlord takes a look at two youngsters that could come into the fold…

Lloyd Jones

After a host of loan spells to various League One & Two clubs, Jones has been the ever-present centre-half in the u23’s this season. With the capture of Virgil Van Dijk, Klopp may look to fuse together a new partnership at the back going forward. Alongside the Dutchman, a new hero may emerge for those at Anfield.

A mix of experience and youth may be the way forward for Klopp as he aims to eradicate the early season defensive problems.

Harry Wilson

The goal getting right winger could be used to reshape Klopp’s forward line. The 20-year-old Welshman has helped himself to nine goals in 10 games this season already for the u23’s and a couple of assists to aid his team.

With the creative play of Coutinho now in Barcelona, Klopp will want someone to come in and put his fair share of goals into the team and Wilson could be that player.
