Gabriel Jesus’ exceptional form of late has put a huge smile on the faces of City fans here in the Tavern.

The Brazilian youngster has bagged three goals and two assists in his last three games, making his stock go through the roof, so his recent injury has gone down as a huge blow for the Sky Blues propping up our bar.

So, manager Pep Guardiola must delve into his squad to find a replacement though, considering the options available to him, that shouldn’t be too hard a task for the former Bayern Munich and Barcelona coach.

Jesus’ hype has led to the overshadowing of fellow forward Kelechi Iheanacho. The Nigerian has proven that he does the one thing a striker needs to do. Score goals.

While Sergio Aguero hasn’t been used an awful lot lately, the Argentine will no doubt be the main man without Jesus, so he surely won’t be risked for the trip to west Yorkshire.

Taking this into account here is the side Guardiola must field, with Iheanacho leading the line, against Huddersfield – according to our landlord…

GK – Willy Caballero

The Argentinian shot-stopper has recently started to feature again in the league for City, playing the full ninety against West Ham and Swansea in their last two games, not putting a finger wrong in either match.

RB – Pablo Zabaleta

Poor Pablo Zabaleta. The 2012/13 City Player of the Year has become slowly become a shell of his former self at the Etihad.

Missing out on regular league starts, the Argentine should feature against Huddersfield to ensure City have that one veteran in their side to keep things together.

CB – John Stones

The £47-million-pound man has been a regular name in City’s defence this season, mostly due to Vincent Kompany’s frequent injuries.

Standing at 6”2, his tall presence is matched with excellent distribution even when his back line is under pressure.

CB – Aleksandar Kolarov

Now in his seventh year at City, Kolarov has shown proved he is one of the team’s most versatile assets.

He should be partnering Stones in the centre-back role against Huddersfield, a position in which he has become accustomed to recently.

LB – Gael Clichy

Although occasionally being rotated with Bacary Sagna, the fellow French full-back Clichy has been one of the few standout stars in City’s defence this year.

Too much rotation in the back line could spell trouble for City on the weekend, so our landlord reckons Clichy will keep his place.

CDM – Fernandinho

Along with Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka, the Brazilian central midfielder is the only player to pick up two red cards in this year’s league campaign.

Regardless, Fernandinho should feature as the lone defensive midfielder for City in their 4-1-4-1 formation.

RM – Jesus Navas

The nippy right winger is known for his tendency to get at defenders, and ability to swing the ball in from the right flank.

This will be perfect when City take on the Championship side this coming Saturday.

CM – David Silva

City can’t field a side full of second-choice players.

The Spanish playmaker will be needed when they travel to the John Smith’s Stadium, to provide that creative spark to his side.

CM – Fabian Delph

It was evident that when Delph moved up north from Birmingham to Manchester that he wouldn’t be a regular feature in the side’s starting XI. However, the Englishman has less than 45 minutes of league football under his belt all season.

Starting Delph against Huddersfield would give him some rare game time, and he could potentially showcase why Guardiola should consider him as a viable option for the first team.

LM – Leroy Sane

When The Citizens shipped over Sane for £37.5 million from Schalke 04 last summer, many instantly assumed he was overpriced and overhyped.

However, after a few months of settling in, the German winger has recently hit some good form. Scoring and assisting in his last three games, Sane should start against the Terriers to maintain his confidence.

ST – Kelechi Iheanacho

Finally, the lone striker up top. With Gabriel Jesus’ hype booming through the roof at the moment, it’s important fans don’t get about how good of a goal scorer Iheanacho is.

Having suffered from a lack of game time recently, the Nigerian must want to prove to Guardiola he is making a mistake by leaving him out.
