Bad news for the Chelsea and Man Utd fans in the Football Transfer Tavern…
Both Chelsea and Man Utd have struggled defensively so far this season, and so the punters in the Tavern were not surprised when both sides were linked with German stalwart Antonio Rudiger.
The young defender has only recently returned from a long-term injury layoff, but he is clearly a player set for stardom – and both Conte and Mourinho are seemingly keen on landing him.
However, in what will no doubt come as a crushing blow to the English giants – Rudiger has come out and rubbished reports of an imminent Roma departure.
Speaking in a news conference (via Goal.com), Rudiger said: “There’s a lot of talk about changes in the squad, but I’m really happy to play for Roma.
He continued: “I’m not bothered about transfer rumours”.
It certainly doesn’t look like he’s jumping for joy at the prospect of playing for either Man Utd or Chelsea.
The young defender appears focused on his career in Serie A – and so a move to England may not be on the cards just yet.
The Man Utd fans, in particular, are disappointed with this, given that Bailly is set for a long-term injury lay off whilst players including Smalling and Blind do not look up to par this seaosn.
