The anticipation is already building in the Transfer Tavern ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Barcelona this week. The fixture is neatly poised at 1-1 following the first leg, and so anything could happen on Wednesday night.
Chelsea are coming into the game on the back of a win, but their form in general over the last few weeks has been poor. In truth, their display at Stamford Bridge against the Catalan giants was a bit of an anomaly for Chelsea, with poor displays preceding and following the game.
Nonetheless, their win against Crystal Palace should instil some confidence in the squad for Antonio Conte, and Chelsea always seem to turn up when it really matters – and it doesn’t get bigger than a clash with Barcelona.
Ahead of the game, there are a number of talking points amongst Chelsea fans. Gary Cahill’s position in the squad is intriguing, whilst the decision to pick between Willian and Pedro – or both – will also be tough for Antonio Conte.
However, perhaps his most significant decision comes in the form of Chelsea’s striking options. He opted for no recognised forward in the first leg, but it’s fair to say that most fans want that to change this time around.
Indeed, it seems as if most fans have already selected who they want to start, too, at least judging by the responses on a recent Twitter post from the Blues.

Chelsea recently shared an interview with Olivier Giroud from their official website, and fans have responded to it in droves. Indeed, they’re mostly saying the same thing – start him against Barcelona!
The Frenchman offered Chelsea something different against Crystal Palace over the weekend, and fans are clearly hoping for a similar impact on Wednesday.

Has to start at the Camp Nou. Morata offers us nothing but silly bookings and losing the ball. Giroud is more confident.
