It has been Leeds United fans who have been making all the noise in the Transfer Tavern this season following their side’s wonderful start to the campaign.
Former APOEL boss Thomas Christiansen replaced Garry Monk during the summer to inherit a squad that finished seventh in the Championship last term, and for the most part were lodged inside the top six before a wretched run of form to end the campaign saw them drop out of the play-off spots.
However, that appears to be a distant memory as the Yorkshire giants have stormed to the top of the division this time round with five wins and two draws from their opening seven matches, seeing them a point clear of fellow fast-starters Cardiff City.
And one man who has made a quick impact at Elland Road since signing in the summer is striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga, and a recent report in The Yorkshire Evening Post suggests that the Championship side weren’t, to begin with, overly convinced about signing the German.
The 25-year-old has moved to Leeds on loan from Bundesliga outfit Hamburg and has already bagged two goals in two games for Christiansen’s men, as well as laying on three assists to suggest that he’s going to be a huge asset to the club ahead of the rest of season.
However, reports suggest that the Whites weren’t convinced by the forward’s ‘attitude’, but soon were after he spoke to the club and reportedly showed a serious interest in Leeds, which appears to have rubbed off well following a sensational start to his spell in Yorkshire.
This is sure to intrigue our resident Leeds supporters, who are beginning to dream about a potential return to the Premier League for the first time since 2004.
Landlord’s verdict: Leeds United missed out on a play-off spot last season and were faced with more uncertainty when Garry Monk resigned in May, although Thomas Christiansen has come in and deserves great credit for bringing positivity back to the club.
The Whites were extremely busy during the summer transfer window and have brought in some very talented individuals, one of which is Pierre-Michel Lasogga, whose move to Yorkshire wasn’t completely sorted until the player himself spoke of his desire to make the move to Elland Road.
And that itself is a wider indication of the feel-good factor and immense amount of hard work that is taking place at Leeds, turning them into a club very much heading in the right direction.
