Arsenal will be desperate to enjoy success in the Europa League this season, but they’ll need to get the better of BATE Borisov in a two-legged round of 32 tie if they are to do so.
The Gunners now find themselves outside of the top four in the Premier League, despite winning against Huddersfield Town at the weekend, as Manchester United secured another positive result.
However, it appears as if Unai Emery has been looking at a possible summer deal in recent times, as according to AS (via Metro), Arsenal are keen on signing Red Bull Salzburg wonderkid Dominik Szoboszlai.
Emile Smith Rowe has been sensational during his limited first-team appearances and he’s now spending time out on loan at RB Leipzig, so perhaps the Gunners should go all out to bring Szoboszlai in to bolster their youth ranks.
It’s believed that Salzburg will listen to offers of around €10 million (£8 million) for Szoboszlai in the summer, so the Gunners may be able to secure themselves a bargain. Indeed, an offer around £8 million would be nothing when you consider the amount of talent that the youngster has, and the fact that Arsenal signed Callum Chambers for £16 million back in 2014 when he was at a very similar point in his career at 19 years of age.
But, it looks as if Emery will need to channel his inner Sven Mislintat to secure a deal for the 18-year-old as it won’t be easy, with the likes of Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Juventus all interested.
Szoboszlai burst onto the scene in the Austrian Bundesliga last season with a string of impressive performances for Salzburg and he’s gone up another level in the current campaign. He produced six goals and four assists in nine appearances for Salzburg’s feeder club FC Liefering during the first half of the season.
He really has come on leaps and bounds this season as a strong and physical midfielder who looks to get on the ball and make things happen, with a great passing ability and an eagle eye for goal. So, the Gunners could bag themselves another bright midfield talent for the future if Emery manages to pull off a difficult deal for the Hungarian.
