The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have mostly given up hope on the prospect of their side finishing in the top-four this season. The Blues realistically needed to beat Huddersfield on Wednesday night to stand much of a chance of success, but it was not to be.
In truth, Chelsea didn’t ever really look like they were going to win the game, and that will come as the biggest point of frustration for fans.
Fingers can be pointed at any number of figures, and supporters have certainly been pointing blame at the players, but as has often been the case, Antonio Conte has also been taking a lot of the criticism.
In particular, a few of the decisions that he made on Wednesday haven’t gone down too well, with his team selection, in particular, causing division.
Of course, he decided not to play both Eden Hazard and Olivier Giroud – despite the fact that both were impressive for Chelsea against Liverpool over the weekend – and so that was just one decision that baffled fans.
Conte has been a figure that has divided opinion over the last few months, and that’s only going to continue, it seems.
