It was only a few weeks ago that the Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern were lamenting Chelsea’s defensive line. The likes of Gary Cahill, John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic were looking poor, and the Blues were seemingly conceding a flurry of goals on what seemed like a weekly basis.
What a difference a few weeks makes…
The Blues now look absolutely unstoppable defensively, and after switching to a 3-4-3 formation – the defensive trio of Azpilicueta, Cahill and Luiz have been in unbelievable form.
The added defensive layer, in the form of Kante and Matic, has really helped – as has the improved form of Alonso and Moses.
In truth, Chelsea’s defence is a collection of outstanding players – and they are working fantastically in collaboration – as this stat proves.
As per OptaJoe on Twitter, Chelsea have received fewer shots on target than any side in the Premier League – which is a testament to the stability of their defence.

How impressive is that?
Remember, this is the same side that were demolished by both Arsenal and Liverpool earlier in the season. What a turnaround!
