Arsenal boosted their hopes of a top two finish on Monday night, beating Hull City convincingly 3-1 at the KC Stadium.
Alexis Sanchez added another two goals to his ever-growing tally, with the Chilean having proved an inspirational signing from Wenger last summer.
The Frenchman may well need to make a couple more similar to that when the transfer window opens shortly however, if Arsenal are to mount a serious challenge for the Premier League or Champions League next season – something the supporters are desperate for.
Their form during the second half of the season shows they are not too far away, and the right transfer business could well tip the balance in their favour next term.

Iker Casillas
Real Madrid continue to be linked with a move for Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea, which would see club legend Iker Casillas drop down the pecking order.
Casillas has won all there is to win at club and international level, and the Gunners are in need of a world class goalkeeper.
David Ospina may have something to say about that however, having not put a foot wrong since taking over as the Gunners number one in early January.
Mathieu Debuchy
The Frenchman started brightly for Arsenal following his summer switch from Newcastle United, but has endured an injury plagued season since.
He looked the ideal replacement for Bacary Sagna at full back early on, and also covered at centre back on occasions when Laurent Koscielny was injured, a position from which he scored a fine header during a 2-2 draw with Liverpool in December.
Arsenal fans are keen to see him play more consistently at right back next season, although Spanish youngster Hector Bellerin has done superbly in that role since his injury.
Gabriel Paulista
The Brazilian was only signed in the January just gone, and has only featured a few times for his new club, but he has already impressed Arsenal fans with his cameo displays so far.
Paulista speaks little English, but the Gunners are expecting to see the best of him after a full pre-season and further time to settle into the country.
Arsenal fans will hope to see him feature consistently next season, and prove himself as the long term successor to Per Mertesacker, who has struggled to perform at the level he did last season.
Laurent Koscielny
There are plenty of Arsenal fans who believe they would have mounted a title challenge, had Laurent Koscielny not missed three months of the season through injury.
The Gunners record with and without the Frenchman is startlingly different in terms of results, and it is no surprise their form has rapidly improved since his re-introduction into the team shortly after Christmas.
Koscielny is always likely to be one of the first names on the team sheet when fully fit.
Kieran Gibbs
Kieran Gibbs has been a model of consistency for a couple of years now at the Emirates, whilst Nacho Monreal has also done little wrong during the times in which he has been called upon.
Both are set to compete for the number one left back spot next season, but you would expect Gibbs to be given the nod ahead of the Spaniard when both are fully fit.
Arsene Wenger is unlikely to see any reason to go on the hunt for a new left back in the summer, with Gibbs seemingly improving by the season – so much so in fact he has moved ahead of the likes of Leighton Baines and Luke Shaw in the England pecking order in recent internationals.
Morgan Schneiderlin
Arsenal’s need for a defensive midfielder has been apparent for more than two years, yet the right deal simply hasn’t come along for Arsene Wenger.
Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin is thought to be the top target for the summer, with the fact Arsenal are expected to beat bitter north London rivals Tottenham to the deal set to make it all the more sweet for supporters.
Mauricio Pochettino had previously lined up Schneiderlin as a number one target, but Champions League football at the Emirates is likely to prove the deciding factor in a move for the France international.
William Carvalho
The 22-year-old is considered to be one of Europe’s brightest young midfielders, and Arsenal have registered themselves as interested.
With Juventus star Paul Pogba said to be going for a massive £70million in the summer, Sporting Lisbon star Carvalho would represent the next best thing perhaps at half of the price.
The Gunners are looking to freshen up the middle of their midfield with Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta likely to move on at the end of the season, and Carvalho fits the bill perfectly.
Santi Cazorla
The Spaniard looks set to challenge Alexis Sanchez for all the main prizes at Arsenal’s end of season awards, having shone in a central midfield position during the second half of the season.
It is vital Arsenal resist any offers that may come from Atletico Madrid in the summer, with Cazorla often proving to be the man for the big occasion this season.
His performance in the 2-0 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad in January was a sign of just what an important player he has become for Arsene Wenger’s side.
Alexis Sanchez
Even the most passionate of Arsenal supporters would find it difficult to deny Alexis Sanchez has carried the Gunners for much of the season.
The Chilean has been an instant hit in the Premier League, with his goals carrying Arsenal through some testing early months, and adding to their superb second half of the season.
The exciting thing for Arsenal fans is that the former Barcelona man is only going to improve having had a season of English football under his belt.
Olivier Giroud
The Frenchman was sorely missed during the opening three months of the season, and the goals he has scored since his return have left Arsenal fans believing they could well have mounted a serious title challenge had he remained fit.
Giroud compliments the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Santi Cazorla perfectly with his ability to link up play, and create space with his clever movement.
His goal record seems to be improving by the season as well, whilst it is the ability he has to score all types of goals that will have surely convinced Arsene Wenger to start him as the first choice centre forward next season.
Edinson Cavani
Arsenal were said to be amongst the clubs keen on signing Edinson Cavani in the summer of 2013, before PSG tempted him to Ligue 1 with a £50million offer.
Cavani has been linked with a move away consistently since, with reports claiming the Uruguayan is fed up of being deployed on the right hand side by Laurent Blanc.
It may well be a similar story for him at the Emirates, but Wenger has often given Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck license to drift inside and play off of Giroud as the central forward.
Cavani has an outstanding goal record, and would give the Gunners a different attacking edge next season if Wenger is willing to splash the cash.
