The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a report in The Daily Mail, that young Brazilian Gabriel Jesus has turned down a £90,000 per week contract extension at The Etihad. The striker reportedly wants to wait until the summer before resuming contract negotiations and is holding out for £100,000 per week.
At just 20-years-old, it’s fair to say that Gabriel Jesus is one of the world’s best young talents. The Manchester City striker signed for the Citizens in January 2017 and has shot himself into the limelight with a number of impressive performances. The Brazilian has suffered an injury-hit first full campaign in Manchester but has still managed to notch 11 goals in 32 appearances for the Sky Blues as he battles with the club’s all-time record goal-scorer, Sergio Aguero, for a starting role.
Jesus played for Palmeiras in the Brazilian first division before making the move to Manchester at the age of just 19. For most players, moving to a new country and embracing a new culture would be hard to adjust to, however, Jesus made it look easy as he bagged three goals in his first three games in the Premier League and went on to score seven and assist four more in his ten Premier League games last season. The City fans know what their poacher brings to the squad and will be hoping that the club’s hierarchy does everything in their power to ensure that Jesus signs an extension to his City contract in the summer.
