The Liverpool supporting punters here in the Transfer Tavern have been impressed with their team’s start to the 2016/17 Premier League campaign, with the Reds currently playing some superb football.

German boss Jurgen Klopp has revived the club’s flailing fortunes and on current form his side look certainties to finish in the top four of the Premier League and reclaim a place back in the Champions League.

Obviously, there is still a long way to go in the campaign just yet but the early signs are positive, with the fans here in the Tavern desperate for their side to continue their current form.

Tavern writer Lee Clarke overheard a group of Liverpool supporters talking about the January transfer window and he decided to look at two Premier League stars who the club should try and sign next month.

Virgil Van Dijk

The Southampton central defender has been one of the standout stories of the campaign to date and his form is likely to attract lots of interest.

Liverpool have a history of signing players from the Saints and the Dutch defender could be the next in line for a switch to Anfield.

One Liverpool supporter is sat tucking into a full English breakfast here in the Tavern and he thinks that Van Dijk would increase the club’s title credentials.

Aaron Cresswell

The West Ham United left-back is now back on top form after suffering from injury problems lately and the Liverpool-born player would be ideal for the Reds.

The left side of defence is a problem position for Klopp’s side and although James Milner has performed well as a deputy, it isn’t his natural position.

One Liverpool fan is sat with his pals here in the Tavern and he thinks that Cresswell would be a fantastic addition to the Reds’ squad.
