Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are desperate to see their club do business in January and you can understand why.
After looking like genuine title contenders earlier this season the Reds have slipped off the pace a little thanks to a loss at Bournemouth and a draw at home to West Ham in their last two fixtures.
For many here by the bar and, indeed, in the wider footballing landscape it’s been their defence that has let them down in those last two games and so that is the area in which our Reds want Jurgen Klopp to strengthen.
It might not be as simple as that, though, for the German as our landlord thinks he’ll have to get rid of two players first before he can bring some in.
A busy window could be ahead, then, and here’s who the main man behind the bar reckons the Reds should get shot of to start with…
Mamadou Sakho

The Frenchman just doesn’t look like he’ll play for Liverpool ever again and so he should be moved on in January.
There’s no point keeping a player around and paying his wages if you have no intention of giving him any minutes and our landlord can only see Sakho going one way in January – out. He’d probably be a good signing for someone else, though, and so he shouldn’t worry too much about finding new employers.
Tiago Ilori

Yes, he’s still at Liverpool.
The Portuguese defender was signed under Brendan Rodgers as the next top young defender but he has certainly not proven himself to be that. He’s never managed to nail a place down with the Reds nor has he when he’s gone out on loan so it must be time for him to move on. Whether anyone will take him, though, is another proposition in itself and one he’ll have to try and solve.
Agree, Reds? Let us know below!
