The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting big changes at Stamford Bridge this summer. It’s been a poor season for the Blues, and there is a lot of work to do to turn this team around.
It would make sense for several big-name players to come in. With the likes of Man City and Man Utd spending big every summer to land the biggest and best talent, Chelsea can’t afford to be left behind.
However, managerial change could also be on the horizon.
It’s been a tough season for Antonio Conte, and his future is looking increasingly uncertain with every passing week.
As a result, the Blues need to prepare for a potential departure, and our landlord thinks that a move for Carlo Ancelotti makes perfect sense. What’s more, he thinks that a move simply must happen THIS summer.

Now Or Never
Top managers are often attached to clubs, and so it’s not often that someone will come in without the need for compensation.
For Chelsea, though, Ancelotti would – given that he was fired by Bayern Munich earlier this season.
That said, he won’t want to be out of a job longer than a year – and so he’s likely to move somewhere this summer. If Chelsea don’t land him, someone else will.
Even worse, perhaps the Italian could move to another Premier League club like Arsenal – with Wenger also facing an uncertain future.
Chelsea can’t afford to miss out on a manager like Ancelotti, and they certainly can’t afford to let him go to another Premier League club.
Conte Has Peaked
It’s tough to say, but it’s clear that Antonio Conte has hit his peak at Chelsea.
He came in last year with a new style, and that delivered results immediately. However, he hasn’t been able to adapt, and so his team is only going to get worse.
The Italian does have the skill to turn it around, but he doesn’t look committed enough to really put the effort in, and nor will Chelsea likely give him the time he needs to do that.
Unfortunately, a departure for Conte makes sense this summer – and so given Ancelotti’s availability – a move makes perfect sense.
