Ronald Koeman is slowly becoming a legendary figure to our Evertonian supporters here in the Transfer Tavern.

The Dutchman had a stunning start to his career on Merseyside before a slight stutter, though for him to continue his improvement on Merseyside, he must sell a number of players from the first-team squad.

However, despite Koeman’s successes with the talent crop of talent, the owner’s ambitions remain some distance from the reality of where the club currently are.

For the former Southampton coach to continue his progression at Goodison, he must wield his axe on a few passengers in the squad.

Over the years spent under Roberto Martinez, the Toffees picked up rather a lot of deadwood to currently clutter their ranks.

One thing Koeman has restored at Everton is the fortress symbol surrounding Goodison Park. The Blues’ resurgence come with a solid home form with many teams trembling at the prospect of traveling to Everton.

Improvement is already noticeable but after much discussions with our Tavern Landlord, here are THREE players that Ronald Koeman should consider chopping from his squad in the winter transfer window.

Oumar Niasse

Niasse’s form at Everton has seen many of our Merseyside punters considering him the worst forward to ever represent the club.

At Lokomotiv Moscow, Niasse was a clinical and predatory forward renowned for his goalscoring ability; however, life in England has been a stark contrast for the Senegal forward.

With Romelu Lukaku consistently finding the net for the Goodison faithful. Everton should cut their loses with Niasse and re-think their options.

Arouna Kone

Every manager has a favourite player; Harry Redknapp likes working with Nico Kranjcar while Roberto Martinez’s pride and joy was Mr. Arouna Kone.

The Ivory Coast international has proved somewhat of a disaster at Everton following his move from Wigan. With a return of 6 goals (3 in one game) in 46 league games, surely it’s time Everton chop Kone from the squad.

If the club truly have ambitions to challenge the top-four, players like Arouna Kone must not be considered any longer.

Darron Gibson

Gibson was once the name destined to replace long-serving Roy Keane at Manchester United. Following numerous loan spells, he eventually made a move to Goodison in 2012.

However, after five seasons at Goodison Park, Gibson has averaged just ten games a season due to injury, lack of form, and better squad players in his position.

Our locals here at the Transfer Tavern are hoping to see the back of Gibson, who regularly has become an unreliable member of the Everton squad.
