The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern love James Milner more and more with every tweet he posts. The former Manchester City and Aston Villa midfielder has kicked the boring tag that he’d been labelled with for so long when he joined the social media network and has been providing fans with laughs along the way. His latest tweet, in response to Liverpool’s launch of their new home kit, has received a good reception from our local Reds.
Handsome bunch… no shame in not making cut… I must be doing the away kit https://t.co/EEem9zGJCd

When James Milner was unveiled as a Liverpool player in summer 2015, a number of fans questioned the decision to bring him to Anfield and were particularly disappointed that he decided to take the club’s legendary number seven shirt. Almost three years down the line though, the fans couldn’t have more appreciation for their midfielder who has proven his worth every step of the way, scoring 15 goals and setting up 29 more in his 126 games for the club, a lot of which came as a makeshift left-back last season.
Milner, this season, has played more a rotational role as he competes with Emre Can, Jordan Henderson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Adam Lallana and Georginio Wijnaldum for a spot in Liverpool’s midfield three. When called upon, the 32-year-old has more than done his bit and even tops the assist charts in the Champions League this season, having set up eight goals for teammates in his eight appearances in Europe. This season, Milner also has a chance to add a Champions League winners medal to his honours list as the club face Roma in the first leg of their semi-final tie next week.

If they don’t have you ironing the away kit as an announcement, then it’s just a missed opportunity tbf.

Club wants fans looking at the shirts, mate. Your chiseled physique and film-star good looks is just too distracting. Cheer up, though. Your winning Twitter by a mile.
