Manchester United: Aaron Wan-Bissaka could still leave

Transfer expert Dean Jones says that there is a ‘reasonably strong possibility’ that Aaron Wan-Bissaka could still leave Manchester United this month.

The Lowdown: Resurgence

It was reported before the opening of the January transfer window that United were open to letting Wan-Bissaka leave this month, with Wolves, West Ham United and Crystal Palace interested in his signature.

However, he has had a resurgence under Erik ten Hag in recent times, starting their last five games in the Premier League, after only playing a mere four minutes previously in the top flight (Transfermarkt).

Ten Hag has praised Wan-Bissaka for some of his performances upon coming back into the first team, and so it will be interesting to see if he will still be allowed to leave Old Trafford come the end of the month.

The Latest: Could still leave

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones says that there is a ‘reasonably strong possibility’ that Wan-Bissaka could still leave in this window, which he describes as ‘strange’ given his recent resurgence:

“He’s certainly given himself a lifeline recently.

“I’m led to believe there is actually still a reasonably strong possibility that Wan-Bissaka does move on this month, which seems a little strange, to be honest.”

The Verdict: Keep him!

Wan-Bissaka has earned his place back in Ten Hag’s plans with his impressive performances, and so United should now be looking to keep hold of him at least until the end of the season.

Diogo Dalot is the only other recognised senior right-back in the squad, and has picked up a hamstring injury which has been ruling out of recent matches.

It is unknown how long it will take for him to recover, meaning that Wan-Bissaka has to come in to take his place in the side until he is match fit.

Nonetheless, Wan-Bissaka’s contract does not expire until next summer, so they should not be under much pressure to sell him this window, and could even look to try and extend his deal at the end of the season if this form continues.
