This is a huge boost for the Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern…
Chelsea have had a mixed start to the Premier League thus far, but Antonio Conte is slowly starting to bring the best out of his faltering squad – much to the relief of the Chelsea faithful in the Tavern.
A formation change against Hull lead the Blues to a comfortable victory, giving Conte’s men a boost heading into the international break.
Now, Chelsea appear to have received a huge boost heading out of the break and into their next game – a crunch clash against champions Leicester City.
According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea captain john Terry is on course for a Blues return at the weekend, after several weeks out of action.
They report that Terry joined his team-mates in training this week – and looks set for a return to the first team against Claudio Ranieri’s men.
Whilst the Chelsea fans in the Tavern don’t like to admit their reliance on their 35-year-old captain – it is, at this point, undeniable. It is no coincidence that the Blues have struggled in his absence.
Our landlord thinks that Chelsea immediately become a better side when Terry is involved – citing his leadership skills in particular as an undervalued and essential quality that he brings to the Chelsea back line – regardless of his form.
He will need to be in top form in order to deal with Leicester’s threatening attack that includes the likes of Mahrez and Vardy.
