Former Manchester United scout Jorge Alvial has told the Manchester Evening News that Jonathan David could be a good signing for Liverpool in the future.

David currently plays for Genk in Belgium, but it seems that Alvial thinks he would be a good signing for the Anfield outfit in the future. He said: “I believe Jonathan in the near future has the potential to play in the Premier League, and after a season or two can demonstrate if he is ready for the top teams like Manchester United, Chelsea, Man City or Liverpool.”

The 20-year-old has been in absolutely stunning form so far this campaign. In 40 games in all competitions, he has managed 23 goals and 10 assists. For a striker, that would be impressive – the fact that he has played most of his games in attacking midfield makes those stats even more eye-catching.

Of course, Jurgen Klopp does not generally use an attacking midfielder in his 4-3-3 formation, but signing the Canada international could well mark the start of a new era for the 52-year-old. From a midfield point of view, there aren’t many goals in the Reds’ side – Fabinho, Georginio Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson have just nine between them this term.

Currently valued at £20.25m by Transfermarkt, David could very well represent good business for Michael Edwards and co. This is certainly a player the Merseyside outfit’s hierarchy should be looking at.
