Jota and Adams must start for Birmingham against Aston Villa today

Birmingham City have been going on strong under Garry Monk in the current campaign but they’ve fallen off the pace slightly in recent times.

The Blues will be desperate to challenge for a play-off spot this season having come on leaps and bounds at St Andrew’s, with a successful January transfer window helping their cause.

Interestingly, Birmingham City will travel to Villa Park to face Aston Villa in their next Championship fixture. The Villains put in a dominant performance against Derby County prior to the international break, so they’ll be desperate to build on their momentum by securing another three points in the Second City derby.

With that in mind, Monk must get his team selection right by selecting these TWO Birmingham City players…

JOTA

Jota has been one of the standout performers for the Blues in the current campaign as a real danger in attacking areas, with one goal and five assists to his name already.

The 27-year-old has the ability to unlock any defence on his day by making the most of his incredible eye for a pass and trickery, so Monk will be sure to turn to the Spaniard in the Second City derby.

Aston Villa have had to deal with Neil Taylor’s inconsistencies down the left-hand side of the defence, so this could be an area of weakness that the winger can target.

CHE ADAMS

Che Adams was on absolute fire last time out against Hull City as he put in arguably one of his best performances in the blue shirt by grabbing a hat-trick in a 3-3 draw.

The forward hasn’t always been able to find his feet in front of goal on consistent basis in the current campaign, but there’s no doubt that he has the ability to cause problems for any defence on his day.

Therefore, Monk will need to get the very best out of the Englishman if the Blues are to stand any chance of earning the bragging right later on today at Villa Park.
