May 26th 2018 is probably a day that Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius would like to forget.
All players make mistakes, but it is rare that those errors cost their side to the extent of those from the 26-year-old. On that day, the Reds were facing Real Madrid in the Champions League final, with the former Mainz man between the sticks. It was meant to be one of the greatest moments of his career, but it soon turned into a nightmare as he gifted Los Merengues two goals, which helped then win the trophy for the 13th time (BBC Sport).

He has not played for the Anfield outfit since, being shipped out to Besiktas on loan at the start of the next season. However, it is clearly something that plays on his mind – and he has an excuse as to why he committed those errors. He told Sport Bild: “I had a concussion after a blow from Sergio Ramos, which restricted my spatial vision. When the results were released, there was a lot of malice and insult. The reactions were over the top and disrespectful. My mistakes were not assessed fairly.”
Some of the death threats he received were out of order of course and that sort of thing has no place in football or life in general. But there are certainly questions to be asked of his mistakes.
The quotes have been shared by Twitter page Anfield Edition, and they have got the club’s supporters talking – one fan even called him a ‘sore loser.’ You can see some of the best comments from the social media platform below.

No idea why he’s still going on about it, he also seems to not be the brightest spark if he thinks reactions were over the top, he screwed up majorly in the biggest game in club football with everyone watching causing Liverpool fans around the globe heartbreak.
