Keep, axe or loan? The 3 players who just aren’t good enough for Chelsea anymore

Chelsea football club have had a superb season on the whole under Antonio Conte, and although Spurs are making a big push at them to win the title, they look like they are on course to secure another Premier League title.

The Italian manager has put enthusiasm and energy into a team which last season looked dead in the water, and the Blues fans here in the Tavern have really taken to their new manager.

Next season though will be a whole new kettle of fish, with a Champions League campaign to take care of, as well as the added pressure of potentially being defending champions.

This could mean a bit of a shake up within the squad, and our landlord has been chatting to fans over at the end of the bar to get some of their thoughts on this very subject.

With this in mind, here are THREE Chelsea players whose futures could be in limbo this summer…

Diego Costa

The future of the Spanish striker has been discussed since he first made murmurings of making a move to China towards the end of the transfer window.

Costa remained, but his form in the last few months has been poor, coinciding with Chelsea dropping some unexpected points. The Spaniard is probably one who should be kept, but if a huge offer comes in again, he might just be off.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

The youngster needed really to be breaking into the team and cementing a place in the XI this term, but it hasn’t happened as he hoped thus far.

Loftus-Cheek could well be on the chopping block this summer, with a loan or permanent move likely to be something he will once again consider.

Nathan Ake

Ake was in superb form on loan at Bournemouth this season, but since returning to the Bridge has had little chance to impress again.

The Cherries remain interested in Ake’s services, and he might well be best off leaving Chelsea and heading out for some regular first team football.
