Everton are flying this season and our landlord here at the Transfer Tavern has put that down to the manager Ronald Koeman. He’s inspired his Toffees to a top seven spot so far and under him they look back to the days of David Moyes, only stronger!

The former Southampton manager knows just how important it is to get everything right in the transfer market and so far he’s been pretty successful in every window at every club he’s managed.

That doesn’t mean he’s signed the best players, although he has made some superb signings during his management career, it’s also about determining the players to keep who are already at the club as well as deciding whose time is up.

This summer Koeman will have a lot to mull over and decide in terms of changing up his team, especially if they are to be a success in Europe.

With that comes the question, Keep or axe? Koeman simply needs to make a decision on these THREE Everton stars

KEEP: ROMELU LUKAKU

This will be easier said than done of course, but the club need to do everything to keep him at the club.

Even in light of him turning down a new contract, the club shouldn’t be bullied into letting the big Belgian leave. Lukaku could help take the club to the next stage and the club need to be resolute in determining his future by keeping hold of him come what may.

AXE: AARON LENNON

Lennon was, at the time, a solid addition to club when Roberto Martinez brought him in from Tottenham.

However under Koeman, Lennon has very rarely featured with and with the brilliance of Tom Davies, he’s fallen even further down in the selection process. For the player and club it’s best that they part ways this summer. Even if the Toffees don’t get much money for him.

KEEP: ROSS BARKLEY

He didn’t make the best of starts to this season with many calling for him to be sold.

However he has since become a key cog in Everton side as they’ve slowly climbed up the table. It’s vital now that they keep the young English international and don’t allow him to leave to a top six rival. He and Lukaku could help drive the club to where they want to be.
