Following Chelsea’s clash against Sunderland, Antonio Conte delivered a claim that has certainly surprised the fans in the Transfer Tavern. Discussing the Blues’ upcoming clash with Arsenal, according to Daily Mirror writer Darren Lewis on Twitter, Conte said: “If you ask me who are the favourites (for the FA Cup) I would say Arsenal. They missed out on the Champions League”.

This is certainly a strange claim for Conte to make, especially considering how well the Blues have done this season. Their demolition of Sunderland on the final day was, in many ways, a microcosm for their entire season – with the side ruthlessly dominant throughout the campaign.
Arsenal, meanwhile, have struggled in recent weeks – having finished outside of the top four for the first time in recent memory. Indeed, whilst the Gunners are likely to want to avenge their poor form with a win, they will undoubtedly struggle against the might of the Blues.
Arsenal’s struggles will be made all the more difficult given their current situation, with a host of players potentially set to miss out on the game.
