Our Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern think Antonio Conte has done a fine job this season and reckon the way he has managed his squad has been crucial to that.
Indeed, this season has been in stark contrast to that of last year with the way the players have seemed a real change.
Last year, under Jose Mourinho, some of the Blues’ key stars appeared to down tools and stop playing as their form slumped horribly.
Now, though, under Conte the same players are enjoying much better form and look set to fire the Italian to the Premier League title in his first season.
One man you could never say downed tools, though, is John Terry but even he has had to be managed this season with him playing far less than he is used to.
Things appear to be harmonious between him and Conte, though, with a decision on the captain’s contract due this summer.
Chelsea fans are all eager to see what happens to their legend and Conte revealed in being quoted by The Mirror:
“I don’t know about this, I prefer every situation to face at the end of the season when it will be the right time.”
Time yet, then, for an agreement to be drawn up as many Chelsea fans would surely love to see.
