Since the beginning of the season, speculation has been rampant in the Football Transfer Tavern with reports that Cesc Fabregas could be set to leave the club.
The Spanish midfield has had a tough time since the arrival of Antonio Conte, and has had to settle largely for a bit-part role; with the new Chelsea boss preferring the midfield duo of Nemanja Matic and N’Golo Kante thus far.
As a result, the punters in the Tavern had expected that the Spaniard would leave the club in January, given that he has enjoyed quite the run as a starter throughout his career until this point.
However, that appears to be far from a foregone conclusion; with Fabregas’ wife coming out to deny reports that a move to AC Milan is happening.
Taking to Twitter, in reference to a Tweet suggesting that a deal between the parties was close, she said: “Really?!” before adding “Is it that easy to make up stories these days?”.

Wow….she is not messing around!
Very rarely do outside figures get involved in these matters, but it would appear that the rumours are so farfetched that she has no choice but to have her say.
Our landlord thinks that this would indicate that Fabregas is keen to stay at Chelsea beyond the end of the season – if he was going to move eventually, she likely would not have said anything.
It is certainly going to be an interesting few months for the Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern.
