Yesterday’s trip to Wearside proved a frustrating one for the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern, who watched their side twice throw away a lead to draw with Sunderland.
Two Jermain Defoe penalties saw the Reds fall five points behind league leaders Chelsea, who also boast a game in hand, much to the frustration of our Merseyside locals.
While it was a bad day at the office, there has been an element of good news emanating out of yesterday’s game, following reports in the Liverpool Echo.
Anfield chief Jurgen Klopp has moved to quell fears striker Daniel Sturridge could face an extended spell out of action, after he was seen limping down the tunnel at the Stadium of Light.
With Sadio Mane off to the African Cup of Nations, along with Philippe Coutinho’s injury, the England international will need to be called upon during the long winter months no doubt.
Such are the nature of his seemingly constant injuries, the Kop faithful must have been fearing the worst when they saw the 27-year-old in clear discomfort.
However, Klopp has played down fears he could miss an awful lot of action, cheering our resident Liverpool fans up.
“He had a knock on his right ankle. I don’t think it is too bad”, he said.
