Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are remaining hopeful that some last minute deals go through before the deadline tomorrow night.
In all honesty it is in more hope than expectation that the Reds are going to sign players before tomorrow night with them having a nightmare month up until now.
They’ve managed to sign absolutely no-one and that’s impacted results on the pitch with their form taking a nose-dive.
Jurgen Klopp will surely be frustrated, too, with him seeing his squad get very tired and run out of steam over the last few weeks.
Surely, then, he must be tempted to roll the dice one last time and see if he can get some players in before the deadline and our landlord really thinks he should.
That in mind, then, here are two players Klopp should ask the owners for before the window slams shut…
William Carvalho

Liverpool’s midfield has plenty of strong attributes but it really lacks defensive know-how.
Emre Can has been slated in recent weeks whilst Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum prefer getting forward leaving an already frail defence exposed at times. Signing Portugal international William Carvalho would surely solve that, then, and leave the Reds with a much more balanced looking side.
Domenico Berardi

The Reds need a new leading striker.
Daniel Sturridge looks out of sorts whilst Divock Origi is too inconsistent at the moment leaving only Roberto Firmino to carry the flag up top. It’s another area where the Reds need options and the Sassuolo man Berardi would be a more than ample striker to get in. He’s young, too, and that would suit Klopp’s coaching style – allowing him to become an even more lethal striker than he is already.
