Liverpool are currently in third place in the Barclays Premier League and a win over Swansea City in today’s earlier game will see the Reds climb back above Spurs into second place, whilst also closing the gap on Chelsea at the summit.

The Reds faithful here in the Transfer Tavern have been a buoyant bunch this season so far and they were mightily impressed to see an understrength side claim a point at Old Trafford last weekend.

Liverpool are getting some of their injured players back now and if they can get back into the winning groove then they could be in with a chance of claiming their first Premier League title.

The incentive is quite big going into today’s home fixture against the Swans and writer Lee Clarke looks at one or two players who could be dropped for the game.

The striker drew criticism from the group of Liverpool fans who watched their team in a 1-0 win over Plymouth Argyle here in the Tavern, with many left perplexed by his abject display.

One Reds follower smashed his empty pint pot on the floor in disgust after one moment of clumsiness from the Liverpool striker, leaving the landlord to get stuck into the cleaning up!

Divock Origi

Another striker who could be in for a shock when the Liverpool boss names his team this weekend is Origi, who has been poor for a few weeks now.

The Belgian youngster missed a penalty in the midweek win at Plymouth to cap off a truly miserably night.

One Liverpool fan was having a game of pool at the time of the penalty miss and he snapped one of the Tavern’s new cues straight over his knee, stating that the striker had really let the club down with his miss.
