Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to continue their unbeaten streak and cement their place in the Champions League spots before Christmas.

Liverpool are in red-hot form of late, finding the back of the net with ease and keeping clean sheets to propel them up to fourth in the league. Reds boss Jurgen Klopp seems to have found the right balance and key rotation to keep his team fresh and sharp, despite getting some flak along the way.

Although a tough Christmas fixture list awaits, resting players will be key to come out the other side with momentum and more importantly a decent league position which would set them up right for the second half of the season. With such an important match against one of their closest rivals, there will be a lot at stake and the winner would hold the advantage for the Champions League places.

With that in mind, our punters believe Klopp should still drop a couple of players for the good of the team in the future, and our landlord takes a look at the two in question…

Roberto Firmino

As a part of the Fab Four, Firmino has thrived in the role as the sole striker but with Klopp unwillingness to play all four at the same time, you can foresee the Brazilian sitting on the bench.

Mane missed out on Sunday and you’d expect him to come back into the fold, plus with a January window fast approaching. Klopp may opt for Daniel Sturridge to allow himself to make a claim for bids from other teams, as he is reported to want to move on to gain more first team minutes in a bid to ensure he’s on the plane to Russia.

Jordan Henderson

Liverpool’s club captain has been under the cosh of late, his performances haven’t been to the standard the Liverpool fans expect of a skipper and living in the Reds’ legendary midfield man Steven Gerrard’s shadow won’t be helping either.

A rest ahead of the busy Christmas period may prove a smart move for Klopp and possibly bring in the returning from injury Adam Lallana, to give him some much-needed first-team minutes, to create a little bit more imagination in the middle of the park against what will no doubt be a tough Arsenal team.
