With a few injuries to key players, there is a chance for Jurgen Klopp to better harness the potential of his squad and keep pace with the league leaders.

There are places up for grabs in Liverpool’s starting eleven as Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana and Joel Matip have all been missing in recent games for the team.

With the Reds tied with Manchester City in third and the league’s top scorers, there has been plenty for the Liverpool fans to cheer about in the Transfer Tavern this season up until now. Indeed, punters of all loyalties have enjoyed watching their free-flowing, attacking football.

However, while some die-hard Kopites maintain that ‘this is their year’, performances like the ones against Bournemouth and Burnley are cause for concern.

This is why it is imperative that Klopp utilises his squad, one of the strongest any Liverpool manager has had in recent years, and gets the Reds back into winning ways.

The German needs to delve into his squad, then, and with that in mind our landlord reckons these two Reds need to be worked on by him ahead of the festive period…

Divock Origi

With Liverpool’s ‘little magician’ Philippe Coutinho injured until January, Divock Origi has finally been given a run of games this season.

Origi’s rival for a starting spot is Daniel Sturrridge, whose wonderful technique and eye for goal sees some of our Liverpool punters at the Transfer Tavern prefer the England striker to start.

That in mind, then, he can’t afford to slip from his recent standards and needs to work hard to keep himself in the team and Klopp needs to play his part to prove his decision is the right one.

Marko Grujic

Having been scouted by Chelsea, Marko Grujic was a much sought after young talent when he made the switch to Liverpool in January 2016.

However, having impressed in pre-season, Grujic has found first-team action hard to come by.

Yet his athleticism, technical ability and game management means that he has all the hallmarks of the complete modern-day midfielder.

A full international and title winner back in his home country Serbia, Grujic has the skills and the experience to prove to be a real asset to Liverpool this season.
