Laporte and Jesus will be key in Man City beating Everton tonight

Manchester City will look to keep up their title chase with a win at Goodison Park against Everton tonight.

The fixture will be the mid-point between City’s very testing week, having beaten Arsenal at the weekend and hosting Chelsea on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium.

It is week’s as such where titles are won and lost so if they can manage to get positive results across the week it could prove to be pivotal in their challenge for the Premier League crown.

In order to beat Everton tonight, this pair will be key…

Aymeric Laporte

Laporte has been at the heart of City’s defence during the League campaign. He has started all but one of the games and is key to why the side have been exposed defensively far fewer times than previous seasons under Pep Guardiola.

The 24-year-old’s ability on the ball is second to none. Laporte is very cool under pressure and able to pick out the inch-perfect pass to his teammate.

It is not just his ability on the ball where his skills lie either as he is very adept in the challenge and has adapted to life at the Premier League champions very well.

He will be key to keeping Richarlison, or whoever is put up top for Everton, quiet in the game so City can look to keep up the title pursuit.

Gabriel Jesus

Jesus has been unfortunate of late as, despite his much-improved form, he has still been playing second-fiddle to Sergio Aguero.

The game against Arsenal showed why Aguero is still chosen in the big games as he netted a hattrick, however, to allow the Argentine suitable rest for the clash against Chelsea at the weekend, he is expected to be rested tonight in favour of Jesus.

The Brazillian scored a brace in the reverse fixture so he will be hoping to replicate this form to help City on their way with another win.
