It’s fair to say that Luke Ayling should avoid 5:30 kick-offs against Nottingham Forest. It seems that the ex-Bristol City man can’t get through that particular fixture without suffering an injury and this season is no different as it was confirmed on the Leeds website that he’s torn his medial collateral ligament and will face two months out.

Marcelo Bielsa puts a lot of responsibility on Ayling and it’s clear that he trusts the experienced Championship right-back. The next two months will be tough for Leeds now, although it’s likely that the club will drop some points over the festive period in the absence of Ayling, Bielsa will have something up his sleeve and the fans have full faith in the Argentine to help reinstate them as a Premier League side in good time.
Whilst Ayling is on the road to recovery the fans will be keen to see Jamie Shackleton come in to replace him, however, when he’s back and firing it will be a huge boost for the club and the fans. The 27-year-old hadn’t scored a goal for the club before this season but he became prolific in pre-season and has since scored his first goal for them in the Championship, the key for him now will be to get back in the team and helping his side to both score goals and keep clean sheets.
