On Wednesday, Leeds United made the decision to terminate Luke Murphy’s contract by mutual consent after it became apparent that he wasn’t in Marcelo Bielsa’s plans for the new season. The 28-year-old has done well to find a new club so quickly, though, and he’ll be playing for Bolton Wanderers in the Championship. Fans can read more on the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Whilst the two-year deal is a cause for celebration for Murphy, he’s set himself up with a guaranteed three fixtures against his former employees, Leeds United. Bolton are the Whites Carabao Cup first-round opponents in just 12 days as well as having two standard Championship games to contest against Marcelo Bielsa’s side. Murphy will be hoping he can mark his game against Leeds with a goal and it’ll be interesting to see if he celebrates.
Murphy spent five years at Elland Road and whilst he may not have had the impact that he wanted in his time with The Whites, none of the fans or anyone associated with the club can fault his attitude and work rate. Most of the supporters will be more than keen to see young the 28-year-old kick on and become a key player at the Macron Stadium for years to come as Bolton aim for survival for yet another year.
