Leeds United: Fans reminisce over Tony Yeboah’s wonderstrike on Twitter

Leeds United fans were reminiscing on Twitter after the club posted a tweet showing Tony Yeboah’s wonderstrike against Wimbledon.

The former forward struck a “breathtakingly brilliant” shot (in the words of Martin Tyler) that cannoned off the crossbar and into the back of the net 24-years-ago today (23 September 1995), leaving Paul Heald with no chance – a game in which he struck a hat-trick as well.

Yeboah received the Goal of the Season award for that effort, although he has since gone on record stating that he did not feel that was the best goal he has ever scored – with a belief that his volley against Liverpool was better.

The former Ghana international had an incredible ability to find the back of the net with sheer talent and he later put that quality of his down to Yorkshire puddings (SportsJoe).

Fans, no doubt, remember that goal fondly and many of them took to Twitter to share their memories of the Yeboah’s wonderstrike.

Here are just some of the reactions they left…
