Journalist Pete O’Rourke has been reacting to the rumours linking Leeds United with a move for Borussia Dortmund left-back Raphael Guerreiro.

The Whites appear to be light at left-back, with both Junior Firpo and Stuart Dallas currently out through injury.

Centre-back Pascal Struijk has been used at left-back for the opening three Premier League fixtures, with rumours emerging over a move for Guerreiro last week.

Journalist Ben Jacobs said he’s ‘heard’ Leeds are ‘looking at’ a potential move for the Portugal international, and O’Rourke has been giving his thoughts to the links.

The Latest: O’Rourke reacts

When asked by The Transfer Tavern if Guerreiro would be a statement signing for Leeds, O’Rourke said:

“It'd be huge signing Guerreiro. Been some top clubs across Europe linked with him so if Leeds were able to, it’d be a real coup and a real statement.

“Seems unlikely that he would leave Borussia Dortmund right now who can offer Champions League football.”

The Verdict: Unlikely?

Even though the Whites could do with a left-back, Jesse Marsch has hinted that he is happy with his options, name-checking both Struijk and youngster Leo Hjelde as cover for Firpo.

Therefore, you’d expect that a move for Guerreiro, who is on £80,000-a-week and has begun the campaign as first-choice with Dortmund, is unlikely, as O'Rourke mentions.

Kai Wagner is another left-back who has been linked with a move to Elland Road, so hopefully, Victor Orta will bring in at least one more player before the September 1 deadline, whether that be a full-back or an attacker.
