Leeds United fans here in the Tavern are praying that their side can bring in a couple of world-class players in the summer, as they’ll look to challenge for promotion next season.
Paul Heckingbottom has struggled to grind out positive results since taking over at Elland Road, but will be desperate to keep hold of his current position at the end of the season as his future is surrounded with doubt. Although, a couple of impressive results from here on in could see him prepare for the challenges of next season, with many of our local residents settling for nothing less than success.
However, the Whites could be without one of their most influential figures for the start of the new campaign, as it’s believed that West Ham United are interested in defender Pontus Jansson. Indeed, the Swede has been one of the standout performers so far this season as a leader at the heart of the defence, and is the last player that Leeds would ever want to lose.
So without further ado, here’s a look at TWO stars that Leeds United will need to sign to replace Pontus Jansson…
Dan Burn
The Wigan Athletic defender has been top class in the current campaign as one of the most promising products in League One and former club Fulham will now bitterly regret letting him go back in 2016.
Indeed, the 25-year-old has put in some quite remarkable performances against the likes of Manchester City and Southampton in their FA Cup run, and has been a dominant figure in their quest for promotion.
So, Leeds United should look to bring the Englishman to Elland Road in the summer transfer window, as a promising defender that’s shown he can handle some of the country’s best attackers already this season.
Ryan Shawcross

Ryan Shawcross has been one of the most consistent performers in the Premier League in recent years, but his current club Stoke City are struggling to maintain their top-flight status.
Although, this could be a bonus for the Whites as they could look to lure him to Yorkshire in the summer months, with plenty of experience under his belt as a proven defender at the highest level.
Therefore, Leeds should definitely look to add the Premier League star to their ranks, as he could make all the difference in their quest for promotion to the top-flight next season.
