Leeds United remain marching on together and after another solid victory over Derby County last Friday night, Garry Monk’s men continue to keep pace with the frontrunners at the summit of the Championship this season.

The 1-0 victory over the Rams at Elland Road showed just how far the Whites have come this season- in years past, this is the exact sort of game that might have seen them fall short on the final whistle.

But a Chris Wood header gave them all three points, meaning at that time, they sat third in the Championship table.

And with just Brighton and Newcastle above them, there is absolutely no reason why Monk’s team can’t push their rivals all the way and end up as serious challengers come the end of the season.

But with January now upon us, the transfer mill is spinning around and rumours continue to link the Whites with a whole host of players from across the world.

However, there are a couple of names that the locals have heard and they’re not too happy with the chat.

So with that in mind, here’s TWO players Leeds United would be stupid to sign this month, agreed?

Emilio Izaguirre

Reports have hotly linked Leeds United with a move for Celtic full-back Emilio Izaguirre in recent days but here in the pub, we think there are a couple of reasons why a move for the Honduran international wouldn’t be the best ideal at this time.

Charlie Taylor is the club’s rising young star and he’s already been linked with various moves to top Premier League clubs.

Bringing in a vastly experienced defender could potentially unsettle the left-back which is exactly what the Whites don’t need in their squad right now at all.

Also, Izaguirre’s contract with the Scottish giants expires at the end of the season. Why not wait and try and bag him on a free?

Sergi Canos

Another name that has been linked with a move to Elland Road is Sergi Canos, who now plays his football at Norwich City.

The former Liverpool youngster has struggled for game-time at Carrow Road this campaign and has been widely restricted to appearances in the cup throughout the majority of the campaign.

Even with Alex Neil’s side struggling, he’s not broken into the first-team and right now, Leeds might be better off moving for a player with a little more proven experience at this level.

£3 million seems a little on the expensive side for a man that has only made eight appearances so far this campaign.
