Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are discussing claims from a club legend, who dubbed one of their newest stars as one of the finest youngsters in world football.
Metro have reported Cristiano Ronaldo’s top youngsters in world football, which includes United’s £25m summer purchase Memphis Depay.
‘You see many players with potential. [Eden] Hazard for example, Depay is a good player too, [Paul] Pogba and maybe Neymar.’
Fans at the bar are astonished that Ronaldo seemingly rates Depay ahead of Barcelona hero Neymar, despite their Dutch winger not featuring in the Premier League since last month’s 3-0 defeat to Arsenal.
Depay also struggled during United’s League Cup exit to Middlesbrough and now appears to have lost his starting spot to 22-year-old Jesse Lingard, despite the £25m-man impressing during the early spells of his Old Trafford career.
Ronaldo’s judgement should be trusted though, as he’s achieved almost everything he could in football, and United supporters are now hoping that Depay can live up to these expectations.
