Leicester City: Fans fume at Premier League’s Riyad Mahrez tweet

Loads of Leicester fans have reacted angrily to a tweet from the official Premier League Twitter account, which showed some of Riyad Mahrez’s record-breaking goals, but with a catch.

The former Foxes star is of course the record-holder for most goals by an Algerian in the Premier League, breaching 50 with his effort for champions Manchester City against Burnley on Tuesday night.

The wing wizard scored City’s fourth and final goal in a 4-1 win, cutting past a Clarets defender in vintage Mahrez style and drilling a low finish beyond Nick Pope.

Annoyingly to plenty of Leicester fans though, the Premier League’s tweet to acknowledge his 50-goal feat had some glaring omissions, as not a single Foxes goal was included in the highlights reel they posted.

Indeed, 39 of Mahrez’s 50 strikes in the top-flight came in the Midlands, meaning just 22% of the efforts that earned him his 50-goal landmark came in a sky blue shirt.
