There is less than one month to go until the window slams shut for the another five months and Manchester City fans in the Tavern are eager for manager Pep Guardiola to continue spending to ensure there is silverware at the Etihad come next May. 

The club have largely been criticised for the absurd amount of cash they’ve been spending in the window which has seen five first-team additions to the ranks this summer, a grand total of £200 million without a ball even being kicked yet.

Our City-mad bar man still accepts that the squad has weak points and Guardiola needs to address these issues as soon as possible with not much of the transfer market remaining.

Of course, a disappointing initial campaign in England for the manager will be a mistake the Spaniard wants to put in the past and any type of cup or trophy at the end of the 2017/18 season will be classed as a success, according to fans by the bar.

With there not being much time before the window is closed, Manchester City need to move quickly to ensure the services of at least one of these 3 players is secured….

William Carvalho

Whilst Arsenal remain favourites to land target William Carvalho, Manchester City would definitely benefit from the Portuguese midfielder’s attributes in this talented squad.

The 25-year-old has a consistent part of Sporting Lisbon’s squad since making his debut six years ago, the Football Transfer Tavern has seen Carvalho go from strength-to-strength and the grit of his tackles is what Pep Guardiola’s side is lacking.

If City are adamant on competing at the very top level then they need a reliable defensive midfielder and this man is precisely what the Sky Blues are missing going into the new season.

Virgil van Dijk

The continuous Virgil van Djik fiasco looks as if it won’t disappear from the Tavern any time soon and the landlord is eager to see this story find a solution, potentially a move that’ll go down to deadline day.

The Dutchman is anticipating an exit from Southampton this summer but would prefer to remain in England and win silverware on a consistent basis, meaning Manchester City are only one of a few who could offer such luxuries.

With not much of the window remaining Pep Guardiola needs to get his act together as supporters in the Tavern are becoming restless and realise it’s an obvious area of the pitch that demands strengthening.

Danny Rose

Manchester City’s defensive numbers are disappointing with the Premier League season on the horizon and the measly one left-back option is concerning fans by the bar, which could cause a devastating consequence later on.

Admittedly, Pep Guardiola has done a superb effort to capture the name of Benjamin Mendy but inexperience could be his horrendous downfall this year – completely being thrown into the deep end.

To make life easier for him, the Tavern’s bar man has suggested the boss makes a move to Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose; similar to the Frenchman, he offers pace but his knowledge of the top-flight is what makes the difference.

The club need to get this deal done imminently if they want strength in depth and quality as deadline day is swiftly approaching, being here before you know it.
