The Liverpool fans are feeling confident in the Transfer Tavern ahead of their trip to face Porto at the Estadio do Dragao tomorrow night.
Jurgen Klopp’s side travel to Portgual to face Porto in the last-sixteen of the Champions League tomorrow night on the back of a 2-0 win over Southampton in the Premier League. The race for the top-four is becoming increasingly intense with every passing fixture. Just two points separate 5th place Tottenham from 3rd place Liverpool after 27 fixtures, so it looks like the battle for Champions League qualification will go right down to the wire this season.
Another one of Liverpool’s rivals for the top-four were in action last night as Chelsea took on West Bromwich Albion at Stamford Bridge. Liverpool were keen spectators to assess how Chelsea fared against a much weaker side on paper, and there was no real surprise as The Blues cruised to a 3-0 victory over The Baggies.
However, the Liverpool supporters were also interested in assessing the performance of their employee Daniel Sturridge who is currently completing a short-term loan spell with the club. Much to the dismay of Sturridge and everybody associated with West Brom, he was forced off the field of play after just 3 minutes with a hamstring injury.
Sturridge has been no stranger to injury woes in recent years, and his latest episode has forced plenty of Liverpool supporters to declare that the England international is finished in the top-flight.
In the aftermath of proceedings, plenty of the Liverpool fans took to Twitter to both express their sympathy for Sturridge and urge their club to get him off the clubs wage bill as soon as possible.
Here’s what The Reds faithful had to say about Sturridge following his latest injury setback last night…
Surely Studge needs to call it a day. Sometimes players muscles can’t keep up. #lfc #sturridge

Sad, but true. I think most of us knew this. His body can’t be relied upon at all.

All those people kicking off about FSG when we sent Sturridge on loan & never replaced him can scroll through their history & delete their tweets. His body can’t cope being a professional footballer. The sooner he’s off the books the better. #LFC #Sturridge

I’m sorry but Daniel Sturridge is finished. Thanks for that great season (3-4 years ago) when you played along side the best striker and the best midfielder in the world in Suarez and Gerrard but it’s time to say goodbye. I’d take £10m just to get him off the wages #LFC

I think we will have to let him go on free, on his day he is a class act but his day is rarer than a leap year!

He was done 2 years ago. His & Suarez goals got us into Europe neither of them kicked a ball for us in it. He was out for practically 2 years.. in all honesty it became a joke.. Sturridge on his comeback. Feel for the lad

I agree on a free transfer with incentive based payments! Gotta feel sorry for him as a person! #YNWA
