After recruiting seven first-team players already, Everton have set the bar this transfer window, and the resident Merseysiders in the Football Transfer Tavern are loving it.

Former Southampton right-back Cuco Martina is the latest to join Ronald Koeman’s side after the marquee addition of Wayne Rooney last week. Manchester United’s all-time record goal scorer has returned to where it all began after 13 years at Old Trafford.

The Englishman will be desperate to get Everton competing with the top six this season after finishing eight points adrift of sixth placed Manchester United last time out.

Romelu Lukaku has left the club after the Belgian completed his £75m move to Manchester United. The Toffees are now being linked with Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke, who is thought to be a like-for-like replacement for Lukaku who scored 24 times last season.

The bulking of their squad means a number of players will have their opportunities trimmed by Koeman.

Leighton Baines

The Englishman has enjoyed a superb run since signing for Everton 10 years ago from Wigan Athletic. However, last season’s run of injuries and mediocre form has confirmed that Leighton Baines is not the player he used to be.

Baines became the first defender to reach 50 Preimer League assists on 15 April 2017 and still has a lot to offer. But Everton need a fresh injection if they are serious about their top six challenge.

Kevin Mirallas

Mirallas signed a new three-year deal with the Toffees in May, but many Everton fans seem to think that it was the wrong move.

The winger had an ordinary campaign last season, scoring four and assisting six. While criticisms over his temperament have also been put in to question.

Fenerbahce are suggested to be interested in the 29 year-old who is expected to contend with a place on the bench at Everton this season.
